Flexo Concepts to Present a Full Line of Anilox Cleaning and Doctor Blade Products for Sheetfed Offset Coating at GraphExpo 2008

Microclean Model 160Plymouth, MA, October 17, 2008. Flexo Concepts announced today its plans to present at GraphExpo 2008 a full line of anilox cleaning and doctor blade products for sheetfed offset tower coating applications.  The company’s MicroClean™ and TruPoint™ products have long been successfully used by flexographic printers to enhance the performance of the anilox ink delivery system; with anilox technology now being used to apply coatings in the sheetfed offset market, these products are being used by sheetfed offset printers to improve coating results.

At booth #770, the company will demonstrate how its MicroClean equipment and ReNew™ cleaning products can be used in a simple, three-step cleaning program to maintain cell volume and ensure that anilox rolls deliver precise volumes of coating to the sheet:

1.  Daily flush cleaning to rinse all parts of the tower coating system and prevent buildup
2.  Weekly maintenance cleaning with ReNew Orange to remove light coating residue from anilox rolls
3.  Periodic deep cleaning with MicroClean to remove heavy coating deposits and restore anilox cell volume

Deep cleanings can be done either in-house on a MicroClean machine or by using the company’s MicroClean Anilox Roll Cleaning Service to send rolls to Flexo Concepts for cleaning.  The MicroClean System cleans rolls off-press without water or chemicals using a dry recyclable plastic media applied with air pressure.  The plastic pellets effectively sweep dried coating from cells without damaging the anilox engraving.

The MicroClean technology received “Worth-a-Look” recognition at GraphExpo 2006 as a product most likely to make a significant impact on the sheetfed offset market for anilox roll cleaning.  At this year’s show, Flexo Concepts will demonstrate the effectiveness of its MicroClean technology on a fully-operating Model 48 for sheetfed offset applications.

Several products to assist with anilox inspection will also be on display, including a handheld rollscope and Capatch disposable strips to quickly assess anilox cell volume and determine when cleaning is needed.

Flexo Concepts will show how, in addition to clean anilox rolls, the metering blade used in a tower coating unit directly impacts the quality of coating delivered to the sheet.  The company will feature its TruPoint UltraFlex composite doctor blade, a long-life metering blade ideally suited for sheetfed offset applications.  UltraFlex is engineered for added stiffness, increased rigidity, durability with aggressive coatings and superior blade life.  The blade provides a fine contact area for precise metering, guaranteeing the application of a consistent coating thickness.  Its construction makes it a good choice for both work-and-turn and complex offset spot coating applications.
